North America Water Purifier to cross 40 Million Units in 2026 - Actual Market Research

Most Americans would have never given a second thought on drinking water in most of their lifetime. All through their life, they might have enjoyed an easy flow of clean drinking water in every knob turn. Yet, it came out shocking that along with toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and wipes, the most easily accessible water also flew off the stores. By the mid of March 2020, even Amazon ran out of most brands of bottled water, ending the month with an increase in sales of the product by 57% compared to the same time in 2019. A recent addition to a database of Actual Market Research- titled “North America Water Purifier Market Outlook, 2026” provides an in-depth insight of the market size by value and volume, analyzes the trends on factors like by types, by technology, by Sales Channel, and by countries.

The main reason why the market hiked up is the distrust among the people towards the water they get through the pipeline. The same distrust has been an aid to the market growth for the water purifier in the North American region. Given a cost comparison between bottled water and a water purifier, it was obvious for the latter to win a score. With this, the market is expected to reach a volume of nearly 40 Million Units by the end of 2026, with an anticipated value CAGR of over 7%.

For most people, a clean drinking water facility is an added convenience to modern life. As the people started taking it for granted, are now facing newer challenges. One of the major challenges that have been identified recently is the contamination of water sites in around 43 states with PFAS- a toxic fluorinated compound. Many farm laborers in California’s Central Valley are exposed to tap water with unsafe levels of arsenic and agricultural chemicals, considerably linked to having elevated the risk of infant death and cancer in adults. In the region, the UV water purifier is expected to reach a value of USD 1.66 Billion, while the gravity-based purifier segment is to have the highest CAGR in the coming period.

With more and more pollutants being identified in the region, many valuable steps have been taken. One such is the funding pilot and demonstration plants with the potential ability to reduce water-borne diseases risk. In Ohio, consulting engineers and universities are now assessing new treatment systems for combined sewer and stormwater discharges. Mercury most often enters North American water resources through the deposition emitted to the air from mining, industrial processes, and combustion of fossil fuels, municipal and medical waste. In recent years, Canada and the United States have reduced their mercury emissions: Canada by 80% and the United States by 45%. Mercury concentrations in most regions’ waters are too low to have toxic effects on those who come in contact with or ingest the water. However, under the right conditions mercury in the water can move into the food chain.

All three major countries - Canada, Mexico, and the United States struggle with nutrient over-enrichment of water resources caused by poor sewage treatment, use of fertilizers, and deposition of combustion byproducts. In the United States, about 55% of freshwater impairments and some 20% of coastal system impairments stem from nutrient loads or eutrophication. The Mexico dead zone, a product of nutrient inputs from the Mississippi River basin, is the largest expanse of human-caused hypoxia in the Western Hemisphere. In Canada, similar concerns have arisen about St. Lawrence estuary hypoxia caused by factors such as nitrogen.

The US is accounted for the maximum share in the water purifier market in North America due to the presence of a large number of companies for the point of use systems segment and technical advancement in water purification systems. However, 92% of everyday drinking water meets all the EPA requirements of safety. Pentair is the market leader in the region, generating 12% to 16% from North America, gaining outstanding sales through their water purifier products which include UV disinfection, whole house water filtration, and others.
